About Us

The Frida Cinema is Orange County's only nonprofit art house cinema. Founded in 2014, The Frida is a fully operational two-screen theater located in downtown Santa Ana's Arts & Entertainment District. Dedicated to enriching, connecting, and educating communities through the art of cinema, The Frida screens more than 1,000 different films and welcomes over 100,000 guests every year. Screening a mix of newly released independent and international films, repertory cinema, horror, cult, and classic films, The Frida has something for everyone. Complimenting on-site films, The Frida also hosts pop-up outdoor cinema programs across Southern California and hosts a number of film festivals each year.

In addition to film screenings, The Frida also produces DTSA First Saturday Art Walk, the city of Santa Ana's free outdoor monthly arts festival which welcomes more than 4,000 visitors, and hosts more than 75 local artists, each month.

The Frida also serves as a cultural anchor in the Orange County community through collaborations with artists, arts organizations, and area nonprofit organizations to co-host events which highlight the vibrancy of the Santa Ana community.

Interested in hosting an event or film screening with The Frida? All of The Frida's space and outdoor screening equipment is also available for rent.
